Post #1 Characters

According to our red Reader's Handbook, a character is a person, animal, or an imaginary creature that takes part in the action of a story.  An author can develop a character by describing several aspects of the character: 
  • how the character looks
  • how the character acts, feels, and talks
  • how others feel about the character
  • how the character interacts with others
  1. After reading the first quarter of the novel, choose one word to describe the main character of the story. 
  2. Next, explain why you chose that word.  Use an aspect from the list above to help support your word choice.  See the example below. 
  3. Finally, respond to a classmate's comment.  Agree or disagree with their word choice and explain why. 

I chose the word 'caring' to describe Timothy from the novel, The Cay. I chose this word because of what he said to Phillip on the raft.  He said, "Put your 'ead back downg, young bahss, an' rest awhile longer.  Do not look direct at d'sun.  'Tis too powerful."
I agree with Sam's comment about Timothy being 'accepting.'  He shows this when he said"..but I true tink beneath d'skin is all d'same."

    mrs.obrien i really like sasquatch i am on page 56 and my favorite part is where dylin and his dad go into mr.nunns house and looks around and they find a steakout things and the videocamera is pointed at mr.jounsons house some reasone. that is where i am so far and i love the book.

    This book is great... When my mom saw that I was reading it she laughed because she told me my step dad used to watch sasquatch shows on TV

    dylan is a caring guy because he cares for his dad about his hunting trip and he can keep secrets for his dad.what I think about dylan is that he is a kind and careinng type of guy.

    Dylan and Bill went to Mr.Johnsons house and then when they was arriving to his house and the house across the street the yard was not mowed and the house was empty but there was still furnture and a coffee maker but there was a tape recorder and it weould record the voiclmails.

    Sasquatch is a really good book. I never thought i would be reading this kind of book.I m at the part where Dylan and Buck are at Bucks cabin. and they just recovered froma fissure as i call it. Buck ays the volcanos burping. And before that Buck asked Dylan to go get water ffrom the stream so he can make pancakes. But when Dylan came back from getting water he saw giant 20 in long footprints. He starting freaking out and went int he cabin and started asking a bunch of questions. I like this book. :)

    The conflict in sasqutch is Dylan and Mr.Johnson and his dad are trying to save sasqutch from dr. Flagg on Mt. st. Helens which is about to erupt. This conflict is a Person to natchure. I dont think dylans dad is crazy for going to Mt. st. Helens all those other guys and dylan and Mr. Johnson went.

    The main character of the story is Dylan and the word I chose is caring because when his dad came back from the hunting trip he keeps asking him questions. I agree with Chris that Dylan is caring because he kept asking him question when his dad came back with all the scratches on his face.

    hi ms.o'b i think the conflickt right now is that the volcano is about to eroupt. now i think they should surround mt st hellins and when the volcano eroupts the sasquatch would run off the mtn and then they could capture it

    I don't agree with Reese and Kyle because i think its common for people to beleive in Sasquatch.

    Right now i am at the part where Dylan and Buck are in the Lava Tubes and all the money out of the $20 bills and the parrachute were along with them. Also Dylan just Saw Sasquatch
